Royal postage stamp
Permanent stamp for King Willem-Alexander based on a photo taken by Rineke Dijkstra. The design refers to the first Dutch stamp dating from 1852, which features a profile portrait of King Willem III. The design of the King’s stamp needs to remain current and serviceable for the length of his reign. The portrait should thus appeal to a large group while also being personal. That is why the King is looking at us. The use of a 3D character creates a more approachable and informal image which reflects the King's personality.
