Wax block print
A wax block was used to achieve this pattern by Studio Job for historic Dutch manufacturer Vlisco. The print which consists of traditional African iconography swallowed by a jungle of foliage is a dizzying distraction or disguise, hinted at by the colorful tribal masks in the forefront. Behind the masks, leaves and snakes is imagery uncolored and unclear. The effects is a patterned palimpsest, familiar and mysterious at the same time.
